Meat Free Monday is an environmental campaign to raise awareness of the climate-changing impact of meat production and consumption. Many people are unaware that livestock production is responsible for 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions – that’s more than the entire transport sector.

John Lennon's Jukebox

Featured on FAB4RADIO

In 1989, John Lennon's jukebox surfaced in an auction of Beatles memorabilia at Christie's, and was sold for £2,500 ($4,907) to Bristol-based music promoter John Midwinter. Lennon had apparently bought the jukebox – specifically a Swiss KB Discomatic – in 1965, and filled it with forty singles to take with him on tour. Midwinter spent several years restoring the box and researching the discs catalogued in Lennon's spidery handwriting. When Midwinter developed cancer, and his health began to deteriorate, his desire to see the player featured in some kind of documentary became all the more important.

The story finally reached its wider public in 2004, when The South Bank Show broadcast a documentary on the jukebox in which many of the represented artists, along with Sting, were asked to comment. Developed by Steve Jansen for the UK television production company Initial, headed by Malcolm Gerrie, the project took longer than was hoped to get picked up. This fact was rendered all the more poignant in that the show was commissioned mere days after Midwinter died. A compilation album was also released, containing thirty-four of the singles' A-sides and seven of their B-sides

A fresh take on one of the 20th century's greatest songwriting talents -- John Lennon. An in-depth performance documentary that celebrates the songwriter's craft, this fascinating program traces the influences on one of music's most inspirational figures by revealing the secrets of his private record collection. Stacked with the tracks that inspired Lennon to tune up, turn on, and rock out, JOHN LENNON'S JUKEBOX explores the impact of those songs on his life and the times in which he lived, and evokes the spirit that propelled a rock and roll delinquent to become an icon. Authorized by Yoko Ono and featuring commentary by Sting, this unique documentary puts a delicious new spin on a classic tale, re-creating the sound of a revolution in the making. Among the featured songs are Otis Redding's version of "My Girl," Wilson Pickett's "In the Midnight Hour," Fontella Bass' "Rescue Me," the Lovin' Spoonful's "Daydream/Do You Believe in Magic," and hits by a wealth of other '60s music icons.

The Beatles On Record

The Beatles On Record

In 1962, an unknown group from Liverpool entered Abbey Road Studios to record their debut single. During the next eight years they created what is arguably regarded as the greatest collection of studio recordings of the 20th century. This special charts The Beatles' extraordinary journey in the studio from "Please Please Me" to "Abbey Road" and reflects on how they developed as musicians, matured as songwriters and created a body of work that sounds as fresh in 2009 as the time it was recorded. Narrated entirely by John, Paul, George, Ringo and Sir George Martin, the documentary features over 60 classic songs, rare footage and photos from The Beatles' archives and never heard before out-takes of studio chat from the "Abbey Road" recording sessions.

Fab 4 Radio Visits Buddy Holly Plane Crash Site ***Visits Buddy Holly Plane Crash Site
US 18 to North 8th Street north in Clear Lake for 4.7 miles. When the paved road (which has turned into Grouse Avenue) turns left (west), go right (east) on gravel road (310th Street), then immediately left (north) on Gull Avenue. Follow Gull Avenue for 1/2 mile, just past the grain bins to t-intersection of a gravel road from the right and first fence row on left (west). The fence begins at the street sign for "Gull Ave." and "315th St."(Look for large Buddy Holly glasses) Walk along the fence row west for just under 1/2 mile.

It was just another Iowa soybean field before the plane carrying Buddy Holly crashed there. Now, to fans, it's hallowed ground.

Ken Paquette, who lives in Portersfield, Wis., 50 miles north of Green Bay, wanted something permanent at the exact location of the crash. "People didn't know exactly where it was," said Paquette, a 50's era fan. "There were flowers scattered all along the fence line. I thought there should be something there."

Paquette made a stainless steel guitar and a set of three stainless steel records. On the guitar are the names Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper, along with the date of the crash, 2/3/59. On the records, there are the names of the recording labels and the big hits for the three artists: "Peggy Sue" on Coral, "Donna" on Del Fi and "Chantilly Lace" on Mercury.

The memorial is located on private property. Visitors are asked to respect their rights while visiting "The Place The Music Died."

Four trees were also planted along the fence row in 1999, one for each performer and the pilot.

Shoulda Been There

Shoulda Been There
Jude Southerland Kessler
"Many people think that the title means that readers should've been there for the heyday of the Beatles, the years when they were performing at the Cavern Club and in Hamburg," Kessler said. "When John told a joke, if the listener didn't laugh, he would shrug and sarcastically comment, 'Well, ya shoulda been there.' So, I got the title from him."
Here comes a book that breathes life into the [Lennon] story…and I say, ‘Hey Jude, carry on!’”
Bill Harry, noted Beatle expert and Founder of Mersey Beat

Shoulda Been There is definitely a must-read for Beatle fans and music fans in general.
Front Street Reviews
This book is almost beyond description! I've read nearly every book ever written about John Lennon. This is probably the best book I have ever read about John's life as a child, teenager and young adult.
Are you a serious Beatles fan? just buy this book!
“the research [on Lennon] is meticulous, down to the tiniest detail…the reader can almost imagine oneself in the room! Indeed, it is this “fly on the wall” approach that is most interesting and endearing…Kessler manages to bring the people and places to vivid life with her charming narrative style.” - Susan Ryan,

"Off the Beatle Track" showcases early Lennon/McCartney/Harrison compositions released by others, but never by Beatles while they were together. Instead, the songs were given to British contemporaries like Billy J. Kramer, Cilla Black, and Peter & Gordon. These artists in turn produced a sizable body of hits including "Bad to Me", "A World Without Love", and "I'll Be on My Way" -- proving the quality and timeless nature of the Beatles songwriting and music.
Apple Jam is embodying each track with an authentic Beatles sound, as if the Liverpool lads had released these songs themselves circa 1963. "We are using the same microphones, gear, and studio techniques of the period to make the album sound just like an early Beatles record," says Rick Lovrovich, Apple Jam's founding member

Mono Box

The 12-CD The Beatles in Mono box set is more than a collector's indulgence. The warmth and punch of early albums With the Beatles and Beatles for Sale evoke the experience of first hearing songs like "All My Loving" on the original vinyl. But in mono, these albums have finally received the treatment they deserve.
Clearly, in the sixties mono was king. Few people had ever heard stereo sound because most record players had just one speaker and stereo radio was still in it's infancy.
"To us, what was important was the balance of the song," he explains. "We felt we were sort of mixing the message, rather than putting things in places. We weren't that interested in stereo. It wasn't where we were from"
Paul McCartney

Jimmy co-produced Byron's Dream. He is a fabulous guitarist and will be in Liverpool in late August performing his tribute to George Harrison.

Las Vegas, Nevada (Billboard Publicity Wire) August 14, 2009 -- World Premiere: "Studio 2" - Beatles Tribute Song - Fab 4 Radio (internet) on August 19.
Beatlemania lives, especially in Las Vegas, where the Cirque du Soleil's Love is still a smash and Beatles tribute bands perform nightly. "The songs of The Beatles have a magic quality that transcends time," says Bill Donati. "Seeing them live was an epiphany."
Byron's Dream, Bill's new CD, includes a whimsical song about EMI's Abbey Road and seeing the group perform on August 19, 1966, in Memphis. "I saw both shows," says Donati. "I sat right behind the stage. We were all curious about their secret sessions at EMI's Abbey Road studio. The songs had a unique sound.
"Geoff Emerick's fine book Here, There and Everywhere, about recording The Beatles, is a superb account for fans. I started as a garage drummer but my group, The Goatdancers, recorded for the Ardent label in Memphis (Ace/Big Beat).
"Fab 4 Radio's debut of my song is a thrill. The station has a great playlist with listeners in 50 nations. I couldn't get George, but I got Jimmy," says Donati, referring to famous musician Jimmy Pou who toured the world as Harrison in Beatlemania. "Jimmy co-produced Byron's Dream. He is a fabulous guitarist and will be in Liverpool in late August performing his tribute to George Harrison." Recorded at Nactrax in Las Vegas; available on CD Baby on August 19.

These albums will be packaged in mini-vinyl CD replicas of the original sleeves with all original inserts and label designs retained.
